Facility information:
• Sales, marketing and industrial waste management: HAZCO Environmental Services Ltd.
• Conveniently located at mile 285 Alaska Highway (20km south of Fort Nelson B.C.) to serve clients in northeastern British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories.
• Solid Non-Special Waste is accepted for direct landfill disposal.
• Special Waste suitable for bioremediation is accepted for treatment prior to disposal.

• Landfill Disposal Permit: PR-16078

 

Common waste streams accepted include:

• Oily and water-based drilling waste
• Hydrocarbon contaminated soils
• Chlorides contaminated soil
• Contaminated soils from spill remediation projects
• Catalyst and desiccant from natural gas processing operations
• Off-spec or unused industrial products
• Sulphur waste

 

All disposal projects are subject to a waste approval procedure involving an evaluation of the physical and chemical characteristics of the waste. Generators will be required to provide representative third-party analysis for each new waste stream and for each new location.

 

Design information
The bioremediation area is designed with:

 

• One (1) meter high berms around the perimeter to prevent run on of surface water and runoff of leachate.
• The base of the bioremediation area is constructed with a 0.5m thick compact, low permeability clay liner, sloped at 1% to collect leachate.
The industrial landfill disposal cell is constructed with:
• One (1) meter thick engineered compacted clay liner
• Leachate collection system consisting of perforated pipe and drainage media, underlain by an HDPE liner system, in addition to the CCL
